This past weekend flew by. I know everyone says that, but this weekend in particular was gone before I knew it. Part of that was due to the fact that I had to work until 9pm on Friday (not a huge deal considering we thought we might have to work until midnight!). Then we had a wedding Saturday (congrats Julie and Ryan!) that I still had to go shopping and get a gift for in the morning, so I packed the kids up and met my MIL at the Crossing. Avah loves shopping and pines through the racks like she's looking for a certain style and contemplating a purchase. Its so funny. I'd tell her we need to find Benn some pants and off she goes to find the boys pants. It was hilarious! Anyway, we got a lot done and before we knew it, it was time to head home and get ready to go again. We left Benn home with my mom to watch the Spartans (yeay, go GREEN) b/c he was sounding stuffy and not feeling well. Avah enjoyed the wedding and gave those sitting around us a good laugh or two when she kept telling Russ she had to go potty (in the middle of the ceramony). Russ quietly told her no, and reminded her she had just been to the bathroom not more than 5 minutes ago. But the persistent girl she is kept saying, "daddy, daddy...potty!" He didn't want to take her because we were in the middle of a pew and would surely cause a scene if we tried scooting out. Then all of a sudden (as the bride and groom are exchanging their vows) Avah lets out 3 very loud toots! Everyone around us was doing everything they could not to laugh out loud, but the girl stole the spotlight and everyone turned to look at us. All we could do was point the finger at her so people didn't think it was us! After that, I quickly swooped her up and rushed her to the potty. I wasn't the least bit worried at that point about making a scene, because we had already made one. :)
Sunday we went to church (we as in my mom and I). It was Palm Sunday, which is usually a longer mass, so we wanted to get up early and go b/c my mom had tickets to see the Lion King in Lansing that evening. But, when we got there (thinking we were 10 minutes early) we were surprised by the number of cars. After we walked in (with a couple other stragglers) we wondered why mass had already started. Well...it had not just started, but was well into the mass. Apparently we weren't 10 minutes early, we were 20 minutes late! Yikes. Guess we better read the bulletin more closely this week. It was funny though because there had to be at least 4 other famlies that walked in AFTER us. Creature of habbit I tell ya. :)
So, that was Sunday. The rest of the day Russ and I took the kids shopping to get Easter stuff and our weekly trip to Meijer. We found Benn the cutest Detroit Tiger baseball outfit, baseball Easter basket and some toys. Avah got new Elmo undies (which were difficult to hide from her), some Tiger sippy cups (she can drink out of a cup now, but they were so cute), and we'll probably get her some fruit snacks for her basket.
All in all, it was a good weekend. Sorry if this post seems like a laundry list of activities, but it helps remind myself that I've accomplished a lot and didn't just putz my weekend away. Also, the kids are always doing something funny, so I like to share their antics when I think of them.
