RSV Please go away

Benn's been feeling under the weather lately so Russ took him to the doc's to be check out on Friday. We thought he probably had an ear infection because he was running a fever and feeling blah. So, after the appointment when Russ called me at work I was expecting him to tell me what pharmacy to pick up his prescription at, but instead he said "they admitted him." I said, "What do you mean admitted him!?! When, where?" He said, "the hospital...he has RSV." At that particular second, nothing else mattered, I left work (told my boss of course - she's awesome!) and headed up to Allegiance room 526. They admitted him, started him on oxygen, had a chest xray and began antibiotics. It was a whirlwind. Thankfully my mom was able to pick Avah up from daycare and had her stay the night with her.

I cannot tell you how terrible it is when your baby is in the hospital. Its still heartwrenching to know he's in pain, so uncomfortable, and struggling to breathe. Poor kid, so apparently RSV is some type of respitory virus that makes it hard for infants to breathe and get oxygen. Since Benn's oxygen levels were really low, they admitted him immediately and have been monitoring him closely ever since.

We've been here for 2 nights now (its Sunday) and he's doing better. He was on 100% oxygen for 2 days but they are gradually reducing it and eventually will be off oxygen. He can possibly go home soon (as in the next day or two), if his levels stay stable for 24 hours after being off oxygen. So, that's what we're hoping for. We'll try to keep everyone updated. Here's a pic of him in his crib at Allegiance.

Glad Benn is better! No fun to stay at the hospital:(. Brody can't wait to get together to play when everyone's healthy. Let's shoot for the week of Spring Break for a dinner date!
