Easter in Pictures

We did a lot today. Church, egg hunts (plural!), dinners (plural!), horse riding, AND...potty training (more on this later).

Egg hunting at home. Notice the eggs in the retaining wall. :)

Benn hunting for eggs.

Benn found his Easter basket at Grandma's! Do you think he's excited that there's a baseball bat and ball in it???

Avah showing off her Easter loot.

Silly Papa teaching Benn how to use a paddle ball.

Egg hunt at Grandma's.

Russ found the "Golden Egg" with $20 during the "Big Kid" egg hunt!

Sharing some candy and bugs with cousin Haylie.

Playing what else??? Baseball with Uncle Rick and Dad.

More baseball. Very serious game going on.

Cousin Barley being a good dog.

Avah enjoying some riding time with Gus. Thanks Aunt Amber and Uncle Matt!

On to the potty training....Call us crazy, but Benn is following in his sisters footsteps in that he has just all of a sudden decided to no longer wear diapers! Wahoo! Unfortunately for us, that meant that we spent the better part of our Easter holiday in the bathroom...on the floor...encouraging him to go "potty" every 20 minutes or so. We've been talking about the potty for a while and something just clicked this weekend. Today after church, Benn took off his diaper and said "My throw this away. Diapies for babies, my big boy!"

Really?

Seriously? Could it be true?!

So, we gave it a whirl and sure enough, he started going on the potty! This warranted an emergency trip to Wal-Mart to get some "big boy" underpants. I found this amusing because Russ immediately volunteered to run in town for this purchase well aware that Wal-Mart would be the only store opened on Easter Sunday. He despises the store and refuses to step foot in one unless he's dragged kicking and screaming. But today all it took was 4 little words from his little buddy, "Daddy! My went potty!" and he was gone, on his way to pick up some briefs like any proud daddy would.

Like I said before, a lot of the memories of today revolved around Benn's time spent in the bathroom but overall I would say it was a successful day. We spent time with most of our closest family and I was so thankful that I didn't have to cook or clean! Now, its early and the kids are already in bed and I'm trying to figure out what in the world to do with all this candy! :) Happy Easter!
