The Bathroom: Before and After

I've been in the mood to paint and the bathroom is my latest project. So, I thought it would be fun to post some before and after pictures. I'm super happy with how it turned out. We've slowly but surely been making the transition from faux wood trim to white and its making a world of difference. Before I would describe the bathroom as ok, not terrible, I've seen worse. The light fixture was the original that they put in the house, cheap and reminded me of an eighties salon (please, if you have this light fixture, do not be offended - its just not my cup of tea). The mirror is plain and the towel bars had fallen off the wall. Basically, this room was screaming HELP!!!

Can you tell that I didn't like the light fixture? I never even replaced the bulbs once they burned out!

After, I would describe the bathroom as clean and peaceful with a nice mix of modern and traditional styles. I chose a grey/purple color for the walls, painted all the trim and doors white, added a new towel rod and towel hooks (hence the modern style), and of course a new 'hotel' style shower curtain. All the accents are bright white to accentuate the newly painted trim and we reused a mirror that we had hanging in our dining room. Oh, and we got a new light fixture too. Unfortunately, its not in the picture yet because when it arrived (we ordered it online) one of the globes was cracked, so its not fully installed. All in all, it was a fairly inexpensive revitalization of our dreary old bath. Take a look and see the transformation for yourself.

Newly installed towel hooks. No more stuffing towels behind a rod or yanking on them at an awkward angle and pulling the screws out of the drywall!
