We had a great time at gymnastics on Tuesday. As much fun as Avah had, I think I had even more fun. Something about being back in the gym, the smell of chalk in the air, and the extra bounce in my step as I walked across the spring floor made it almost impossible not to jump around and want to do back handsprings and tumble on the tumble track. But while those days are behind me, for the time being, I can at least live through Avah.
She did amazing at her first practice. I was a little nervous for her since it was such a new experience, but thanks to her friend Ella and the patient coaches, Avah tried just about everything. Here favorites were the beam (the higher the better!) and jumping in the hula hoops (like hopscotch). She kept begging to go on the high beam (ha! She has no fear…)
She also couldn’t keep her eyes off the older girls who were on the bars. Avah kept saying, “Look mommy, look!” and was pointing her finger in their direction.
To wrap this up (because I’m sure its not nearly as exciting for you as it was for me-to watch my little baby participate in her first sport) I’m so proud of her. And she was so proud of herself. The look on her face and the confidence she had when she walked out of the gym was so great to see.
I can’t wait until next week.
No pictures this time. Sorry – I know, can you believe it? How will I ever capture this moment in a scrapbook without pictures. The class is only 30 minutes, but my mom is going to try to come to one of her classes so I’ll see if she can get some action shots for me to post.
