Seems to be our theme song here in Michigan. So, I’ve just been itching to take Avah out in the snow and pull her around in her sled (that she got for Christmas last year and used all of maybe 2 times) and build a snowman, etc. It’s been really cold when we do get snow, so when the white fluffy stuff dumped on us this past weekend and the temp was above 20 degrees, I decided it was perfect timing. But my dreams were quickly squelched when Avah refused to put her boots on. She insisted on wearing shoes (better than nothing, but really probably takes me out of the running for “mommy of the year” since I let her go out anyways). From the picture you can easily see that it was absolutely boots required kind of weather. :) Oh, and just for the record, this was all that she wanted to do…no sledding or snowman making, just wanted to stand and kick the snow. So that’s what we did and we had a blast anyways! As Avah gets older and Bennett becomes more aware of us, I’m finding that the best way to enjoy motherhood and time with your little ones is to just go with the flow. Your best laid plans and intentions may not always (if rarely ever) pan out, but it’s the journey not the destination right?!
While Avah and I were outside enjoying some fresh, but cold air, Benn and Russ stayed inside and kept warm. Here are some random pictures from this past week and a few quick updates as to what our kiddies have been up to lately.
Avah’s new fav thing is “Dordy” aka Dorothy the dinosaur from the Wiggles. She asks to watch it every time she wakes up (morning and naps) and while Russ is watching football. She also still loves her brother and has been trying to include him in her Dordy obsession by making him watch it with her (which he does willingly). She uses the potty regularly (again, not consistently, but often almost everyday). My personal favorite new words of hers are “Bess oou” aka Bless You when someone sneezes or coughs and “Luv oou” after we tell her we love her. Melts my heart on the spot.
Benny Boo has been talking up a storm. Jabbering and cooing non stop while he’s awake (which is often these days). His baptismal anointing was last Sunday (not his actual baptism – that’s Feb 22nd) which was special. Also, we’re still trying to get the little guy to roll over. He’s not a big fan of lying on his belly so really what motivation does he have to roll over from his back? Not much if you ask me. So, we’ve been practicing, but not pushing. Apparently the kid will roll when he wants to roll.
This coming week is busy for me with judging on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, so I might not have another interesting post this week as you can count on me staying in on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday just snuggling with my little ones and being a boring grown up.
So, hope you enjoy these pics.
