As promised, this is the Halloween follow up post. The festivities continued right on through this past weekend and the kids attended parties, visited with the grandparents and of course went knocking on a few doors in hunt of candy.
Friday kicked off the Halloween fun at daycare. Bennett and Avah brought doughnuts to share along with some witches hats that Avah helped me make the night before. They were super easy to make, festive, and the kids loved bringing treats to share! Pat (our daycare provider) always has fun activities for the kids and with a little help from Kathy and her mom, the kids made rain sticks, bat hats, and even got dressed in their costumes and went trick-or-treating next door. I got to skip out of work for a bit to witness all the fun and snap some pictures...

On Saturday, Russ wasn't feeling well, and I was well...just feeling lazy. We did manage to pull ourselves together for a family picture to use as Christmas cards this year. Then after the photo shoot, the kids asked Russ' mom if they could go shopping with her (so cute! And just what Russ and I needed). So, she took the kids in town (trick-or-treating at the mall) and Russ and I got some good R&R in. Much needed and much appreciated! The kids came back, and begged the rest of the night for candy...nonstop! Arghhh...so much whining.
Finally, Halloween came and we celebrated. We made mummy dogs for dinner, had a visit from grandpa H (who brought lots of goodies), got all dressed in our costumes (the kids and Russ) and were surprised by a visit from the Bulgrien's. The kids exchanged candy and we got them to hold still long enough to snap a few quick pictures then we were off to see the grandma's. We had dinner at grandma H's and had a blast playing football in the leaves (Benn was an MSU football player, Avah a cheerleader and Russ was a referee).
Then we left a bowl of candy out at our house and headed to grandma G's for some old fashioned trick-or-treating. She had lots of goodies for the kids too including a great baseball movie that Benn carried with him all night instead of his Halloween pumpkin. He was much more interested in the movie than collecting candy (although he kept calling the movie a book). We only made it to a couple houses (each gave the kids BAGS or handfuls of candy) before they had had enough. They're still a bit shy and didn't really understand why we were forcing them to go up to strangers and ask for candy. A bit awkward for them, but they were troopers! We finished the night with a stop by Uncle Matt and Aunt Amber's who gave them more candy...then came home, cuddled up on the couch and settled in to watch Benn's new baseball movie.
