A Great Start...

As you all know...today is a snow day. We got snow last night...lots of it, for which I'm thankful for. I was supposed to judge in Coldwater tonight and it was cancelled along with every other school in the lower state of MI. So, I get one unexpected, but very much appreciated evening home with the kids (not Russ though because he has class - SAU doesn't close for anything!). But back to my original thought...the start to my day.

Like I said, Russ and I were going in 2 different directions tonight so we had to drive separately to work today. As I approached Pat's house (where our kids go to daycare) I noticed that some of the side roads had not been plowed AT ALL! This was the conversation...

Me: "Uh Oh"
Avah: "What Uh Oh mom?"
Me: "I think we're going to get stuck."
Avah: "Why stuck mommy? In no (AKA snow)?"
Me: "Yes hunny in the snow."

Bracing myself, I prepared to have to "gun it" in order to turn onto her road. And you guessed it...I got stuck. Half way on Morrell (which was plowed) and half way on Webster (very unplowed). Thankfully a nice gentleman saw this (he propably predicted this would happen once he saw my blinker on) and came over to push my car out. Mind you, Morrell is a pretty busy street at 7:30am. After about 3 minutes of pushing back and forth, another gentleman came to help with his shovel. And within 5 nimutes there was an army of men (about 8 I would say) who were shoveling out the Magnum. By this time, the kids were scared because of all the strange but very helpful men surrounding our vehicle.

Avah: "Mommy! What happen?"
Me: "We're stuck"
Avah: "In no? Dat no naughty!" (As she's whimpering)

The whimpering turned into a panicy sort of cry, the Benn caught wind of her fear and started crying. Blahhh.

If you don't know me, or my skills at operating a vehicle, they are lame at best. Fortunatley for me (and the kids) Russ was just a few minutes behind me saw my flashers on, and stopped to get me out of the mess. Before I knew it, my car was free and Russ had the tires spinning, fishtailing into Pat's drive way. Whew! On to work I went. Now, looking forward to playing in the snow with the kids tonight. I should be able to get some fun out of the stuff that got me stuck this a.m. right?

I am so impressed that you go out into this and play with your kids! you are a FAR better mom than I am there! I hate snow. Hate cold. Don't even OWN the appropriate gear to go out in it myself!!!!!!!!! Enjoy... the day has to end better than it started!

LOL. You are too funny. I don't do much playing. Mostly, I dress them up in so much clothing that they can barely move, shove them out in the snow and take a million pictures of them until they start whining and complaining. Unfortunately, the whining didn't happen tonight and they threw fits when I was ready to come in. I"ll post pictures soon! Your day sounded great! Angel kids! :)
