Just Call Her Avah Grace"FUL"

So, this weekend marked Avah's 2nd trip to the ER in the last 6 months. Yikes, they're really going to start questioning our parenting skills huh? Not life threatening, but was very scary for me. What happened was, we (as in I) was putting together our new dresser that we'd just gotten from IKEA to match our queen sized bed (definite upgrade from the full we've been sleeping on for the las 5 years!). Russ and Avah were playing on the bed (i.e. jumping, flipping, flying, you name it, Avah was burning energy before bed time). Before you know it, BAM! Avah went head first into the corner edge of the headboard. Graceful huh?!

Russ kept saying she was fine, but I looked and said, "clearly she's NOT fine!" I'll admit, I freaked out a little. She had a huge dent in her forehead and it was bleeding. So, we called Russ' mom to come over to stay with Benn (he'd been in bed for a while and I didn't want to wake him to go sit in the ER for hours) and were off to see the doctor. By this time, Avah had stopped crying, but I was super worried still because it wasn't swelling into the massive goose egg I had anticipated. So, I obviously started thinking the worst case scenario that instead of swelling out, she had swelling inside her brain. Russ did a fabulous job at keeping me calm. Long story short, no brain swelling and no stitches, but she did have to have the cut glued shut. They said this would prevent scaring. Poor kid. I can only imagine the trips we'll be taking to the ER with Benn.

Avah was a trooper and didn't even cry when they were putting the Durmabond (thats what they called the glue) on. When we got home, she told her grandma "I go to dokor, I see boo boo head, NO TOUCH!" Cutest thing ever. She thought she was so cool, and since the doctor was telling us to try to make sure we keep the area on her head dry and don't let her pick at it, she wanted to tell everyone else not to touch it. Agh...makes me melt. I love that kid!

never question your parenting skills - if you were a bad mom, you wouldn't have let them jump on the bed in the first place :)
