Turkey day...I can't wait!

Its not that I love the idea of eating a poor turkey (although it is delisch), its getting together with family and after Thanksgiving comes black Friday, then Christmas Eve, then Christmas. I LOVE the holidays, I think more now that we have kids. I can't wait to watch Avah open presents or take her to midnight mass. But I know I'm getting ahead of myself and I'm actually wishing my last 2 weeks of maternity leave away which makes me sad (actually it makes me down right depressed). Its sort of upsetting to think I'll never have this much time off to spend with my kids (since we're not planning on having anymore). Why can't we be like countries in Europe who have up to a year or more off after having a baby?!

Anyways, enough sad talk, back to turkey day. I CAN'T wait! This year I'm in charge of bringing the rolls, cheese and crackers and deviled eggs. Not too hard, hope I don't mess it up though. We're having dinner at my brother's house (who only lives 2 houses down from us!) and it will be awesome! They're making a great spread of food and they get to use all the great stuff they got from their wedding this year. Plus the kids get to see Grandma and Grandpa Callison which they LOVE!

Next comes shopping! Yes, I'll admit I'm one of those crazy people who get up way before the sun rises just to stand in line (usually outside in the freezing cold) just to save a few bucks. But I can't help it. Its a tradition my mom and I started with my aunt and cousin many years ago and it gives me a high. After we eat Thanksgiving dinner (and clean up of course) we sit down with the ads (usually no walking for us!) and plan out our strategy for the next day. I usually get everything I planned on and get a lot of my Christmas shopping done all in one day! The only problem with that is that I stay in the Christmas spirit until the big day and keep buying things. Oh well...it is the season of giving right?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I wish everyone a very blessed holiday!
