The unseasonably warm weather over Memorial weekend created the perfect (and unusually early) opportunity to sneak off to the beach. It was a spontaneous decision (I'm more of a planner!) and unfortunately Russ couldn't go, but I just couldn't pass up the 90+ degree weather and on a weekend at that! So, I convinced my mom to go with me and the kiddies. We packed a picnic lunch, beach toys, umbrellas and sunscreen and headed to one of our favorite beaches on lake Michigan.
The beach, the weather, and the day were all perfect. The kids LOVED the sand, the water and the sun. I couldn't believe how good they were and how much fun they had. We laughed and played and the kids (and my mom) even braved the frigid water. Did I mention, this is May?!
Kiddies at play.
Brave little guy swimming. Brrr...
My fish out of water. :)
This is what a "Time Out" on the beach looks like. I'm just kidding, the kids just asked me to bury their legs in the sand. It was a blast!
Taking a break for a snack in the shade. Looks pretty comfy don't you think?
At this particular beach, there's a fabulous park for the kids. Its shaded, inviting, and exciting for kids of all ages.
Benn conquering the twisty slide.
Climbing the fire pole.
Wide angle view of the park.
I never thought we'd be at the lake in May, but we do live in Michigan so I'm not terribly surprised! Here's to many more beach days this summer with plenty of sun and smiles.
