Early Mother's Day Retail Therapy

Today, I got to spend the better part of the afternoon with my mom. She's been wanting to take a trip to Lansing to do a bit of shopping today was the perfect excuse because her cousin's daughter Lacey just graduated from MSU's veterinary school and is now a doctor of veterinary medicine. So, our first stop was her open house which was actually fun for me. I wanted to go because I knew it meant a lot to my mom, but honestly wasn't looking forward to it. Surprisingly, we had a good time. We ate some great open house food, visited with relatives we only see 4 or 5 times a year and enjoyed some much needed sunshine and warmth.

After that, we went to some stores my mom wanted to go to including World Market and Home Goods then we navigated (barely) through a detour and eventually made it up to the Eastwood Towncentre. Gap was our final destination for two reasons, the first being that earlier this week (being the clutz that I am) I fell down our stairs while carrying Avah and ripped a hole in the knee of my favorite "go-to" black dress pants. I know, I'm cool. No one was hurt, just a little shaken up, but my pants weren't so lucky. The second, was that I had a coupon and GAP just so happened to be were having a Mother's day sale. Fate? Luck? Needless to say, it didn't take much convincing to make a quick stop by (since we were already in Lansing) to pick up some new dress pants for work. So, we did and it was a great day.

I found work pants (won't admit how much I spent - even with 30% off), my mom got exactly what she was looking for (her new purchases look fabulous on her) and we got to enjoy 2 hours of uninterrupted bonding time in the car. Its been a while since we had time together like that and I'm very appreciative for the fact that my MIL was able to watch the kids while Russ was coaching so I could treat my mom to some early Mother's day retail therapy.

Happy early Mother's Day to all you mom's out there!
