The Great Outdoors

Its no surprise that those who live in this fab state of MI have spring fever. The weather around here has been terribly cold, rainy, snowy, and at times there has been freezing rain causing icy roads. BLAH!

That's all I have to say about that.

Well, that's a lie. I have a little more venting to do. (sorry!)

In between these snowy, rainy, dreary days mother nature has teased us with an occasional sunny day that even in one instance flirted with the 50 degree mark on the thermometer. On these days everyone's mood is brighter, we are more productive (so I think anyway) and quite plainly life becomes enjoyable again. Not that I don't enjoy my life on gloomy days like today, I just think the sun makes a huge difference in my attitude.

Earlier this week we had one of these sunny days. Instead of setting the kids in front of the t.v. after work while I made dinner (I'm ashamed to admit this has become "routine" in our house), I rushed home with the kids, grabbed my camera and we went for a walk. It was chilly, but sunny and the kids were able to run off some of their pent up energy that's been festering all winter. :) Here are some pictures I captured on our walk...

I thought it was funny that Benn's shadow was almost as tall as mine. Must have been the light eh? :)

Avah walking Dakota. Its a funny sight and our neighbors get a kick out of her walking a 170+lb dog.

Benn was so excited to go for a walk he had to take his backpack too. He must have thought we were going to be gone a long time. :)

Just playing with some camera settings...

So tonight as I reflect on my day, a day that was gloomy and my attitude was sub par, I remain thankful for the weather variations that this state has. To be honest, I'd become tired of continuously hot and dry temperatures if it meant we didn't get to witness the different seasons that we have in Michigan. With that being said, I'm so ready for SPRING!!!
