Today’s the day…Bennett is a year old. We had a great time last weekend with his baseball themed party. There was a great turnout (despite UofM and MSU having home games) and the weather was perfect. Benn devoured his cake (something Avah shied away from) so I thought he was down right precious and he jumped right in to open his presents. Occasionally he would get distracted by the shiny bows, but for the most part, he opened all of his presents (with some help from his sister and friends). The only thing that made him mad was that he didn’t get to play with his gifts after he unwrapped them. It took us another hour or so after the party to unpackage all the kid toys. Why must Fisher Price attach toys with twisty wires, heavy duty tape that you cannot cut with your finger nails and even screws?! Really? Come on people!
I got to spend the day with both kids yesterday, as daycare was closed. We ran some errands, but mostly played with all of Bennett's new toys. In the evening, we even got to go for a walk with some friends. The kids and I had a great time. Tonight we are planning on going to dinner. We've always gone out to eat for our bday's growing up and thought it would be a fun tradition to continue with our kids. I especially like it because if your bday falls on a weekday (like Benn's does this year) its a way to celebrate that special day no matter when the party is. So, I'm looking forward to it. We just have to figure out where we're going to go.
Here are some pictures of the festivities. I don’t have any of him eating his cake (my camera battery died) but I should be getting some from my mom. I’ll post when I get them.
Getting some help opening presents.
