Belated M-day post

The best weekend EVER! Aside from being Mother's Day (a holiday that I'm fairly new to celebrating as a mother), was a weekend of milestones for Avah and Benn. Avah is officially in a big girl bed. Her friend Ella successfully made the transition a few months ago, and we thought Avah might be ready too. Its going OK. She mostly likes to play in her big bed and won't fall asleep in it. She does however doze off on the couch then will sleep all night (sometimes waking to use the bathroom) then back to her bed. We'll get there, but I've heard this transition can be a hard one to adjust to.

Benn has been cooing, screaching, laughing, grunting and making pretty much any other sound you can think of. He's also at the stage where he hates being out of our sight. I melt into a complete puddle when I arrive to pick the kids up at daycare and he gets a huge grin on his face and starts pumping his arms in excitement to see me. If I stop to say hi to any of the other kids before him he gets upset. Leaving him at daycare is probably the hardest part of my day. :(

I'd like to reflect on how being a mother has made me a better person and changed my views on life but its so hard to put into words. I'm not good at this stuff, though I wish I were. My kids and family mean so much to me. They keep me sane and make me laugh. I'm lucky, honored, and blessed to be recongnized on a national holiday (even if it was created by Hallmark).
