We had an amazing girls scrapbooking weekend. The house that we rented exceeded our expectations, the weather was perfect, and we laughed so much I think we burned off most of the calories that we indulged in throughout the weekend.
We arrived mid morning on Friday to this view...
We quickly unloaded our belongings and began scrapbooking. We headed in town to pick up bagels and soup from Panera to enjoy on Saturday (we're serious scrappers and didn't want to have to leave on Saturday for anything!) and grab a quick lunch a Applebee's. It was at lunch when we were paying our bills that Laura realized that she had someone else's debit card. Apparently the bank had given her the wrong card when she signed up for a new account a week earlier and just realized it on our vacation. It was funny and inevitably, we called her Nancy for the remainder of the weekend.
The cottage (more like small mansion) that we stayed in not only had 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and a hot tub, but it also had a sauna!!! Oh yeah, and did I mention it was ON lake Michigan too? I think I did, but it was worth mentioning again. :)
Here are some pictures of our weekend...
The steep steep stairs from the backyard leading down to the beach. This is the view from the top down. It was a haul going up and down but it was worth it every time.
View of the stairs from the bottom looking up.
Sunset
Me goofing around at sunset. I know my HS gymnastics coach wouldn't be too impressed with my less than stellar form but I think its a fun picture anyways.
This is Nancy, errr...I mean Laura jumping at sunset. :)
Pat and Julie's scrapping tables. They're professional scrappers and had every tool, trick and tip imaginable that they were so generous to share. Believe it or not their tables were the organized ones.
Scrapping late at night and into the wee morning hours.
Pat's cricut machine with a library of cartridges.
I brought a movie to watch on Friday night but unfortunately, we had a difficult time getting the TV to work. This is me trying to rewire the Direct TV, DVD, and TV. Now, I'm sure your'e thinking that this is a scary sight. Me with electronics is not a good combination. I know that, but I really wanted to watch a movie. It wasn't so much the movie I was looking forward to watching but the fact that I was going to get to watch it from start to finish without interruptions from kids. Unfortunately, as you can probably guess there was no movie. I'm an accountant, NOT an electrician. But I put in a good effort.
The girls patiently waiting for me to "fix" the TV. Sorry gals, I tried.
Laura and I in Lake Michigan. Because you can't go TO the lake and not get IN the lake...even if it is October.
The "gem" that I found in the sand. Laura and I went for an invigorating run one morning on the beach. We ran about a mile and on our walk back, we saw some tourists who were waving at us. So we did what any self respecting person would in our situation, we happily smiled and waved back pretending that we owned one of the lake houses on the beach.
Nancy and Martha (aka Laura and I) I mentioned how Laura got her nickname, and I got mine because I brought a fun art project that we all did. It was creative and fun! This is our tribute to our nicknames.
Jill and I being funny. Jill thought she broke one of the chairs earlier in the day and was bummed that she was sitting in it when it broke. So, we decided to have some fun with it. A broken table (it was broken before we sat on it) screamed for us to sit on it. She's pretending to be upset.
Then, we found a jet ski that had fallen off its trailer. Ha! Another great photo op. Poor Jill.
All in all, it was a very fun, relaxing and memorable weekend. Oh, and did I mention that we did manage to get a little scrapbooking done too!
