Lots of happenings, catch up

Warning...this will be a long, jumbled post, but I feel the need to catch up and document what's been going on.

Lets start with the good stuff - Benny.

Benn's been sitting on the potty. Not using the potty (I'm trying not to get too excited), just sitting on it. He's really growing up these past few weeks, talking more, and is SO active. He is constantly running and wants to play baseball 24/7. Russ has been in Chicago for business this past week and has really missed his dad playing catch with him. At daycare, Pat said Benn's been a handful lately. Aye yi yi. Here are some pic's of what he's been up to lately.

Just sitting, but so proud

At the Tiger's game

Cooling off on a hot day

The next eventful thing that we've had going on was that Avah just had her tonsils and adenoids out. The surgery went really well, I even got to take her back to the surgical room when they put her to sleep. It was SO cool. I love seeing that stuff and it was great that I could be with her so she wasn't as scared. Don't get me wrong, she was pissed and did not want to go, but she hung in there. Its been a week and she's been doing surprisingly well, but has started to feel worse yesterday and today (which is to be expected). She's been a real trouper. Plus I've been able to take a few days off to be with her which has been great. The days I took off, she felt good so we got a lot of bonding in - games, reading, talking, etc. Just all around fun girl time. Hereare some pic's of what she's been up to lately.

Prepping for surgery

Recovering and taking it easy watching Peter Pan with grandma

In her new big girl bed

I was a little nervous with Russ being in Chicago and having to deal with one sick kid and one very active kid, but this week has been really great. Is it weird that I get more accomplished when Russ is gone that I do when he's home? I wonder why that is? Huh.

Finally, and there's no good way to say this, but my mom found out that she has breast cancer. :( Its OK. The doctor's have been great and have a plan of attack. She's had surgery to remove the mass, and is undergoing chemo as we speak. Not to say this isn't serious, its almost as serious as it gets. Thankfully, its a treatable cancer. It looks like its going to be a long road ahead full of doctor's visits, trips to oncology for radiation AND chemo, and lots of sick days. But, my mom is strong and will beat this. The prognosis is good and we are focusing on the future, even planning a cruise once treatment is over. I love distractions.

I hate to end this post on such a whammy of an announcement, but I feel like I've been consumed by this and its all I think and pray about. I promise, the next post won't take me as long to post and it will be on a more positive note.

Thanks so much Ash! Your thoughts and prayers mean a lot. I think it'll be a tough road, but we're up for the challenge. God never gives you more than you can handle right? So I've got to believe we're going to get through this.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom.... my mom fought breast cancer two years back, and has been cancer free since then! She was treated here in Jackson, so if your mom is here in town, know that she will receive excellent care!!! It is a treatable disease, but no less scary for all of you!!! I will be thinking of you guys....
