A bit delayed, but none the less. The high point and wrap up of our vacation...Disney!
We arrived at Disney early on Wednesday morning with the sun shining and kids full of excitement. First things first were to check-in to the hotel, but it wasn’t ready yet so we headed to downtown Disney for a somewhat relaxing introduction to the world of Disney and the hotel said they would text us when our room was ready! Yep, I said it TEXT! Crazy, but I went agreed and went along with it expecting to just return after lunch and be able to check-in. It was nice and hot when we arrived which made me happy and there was a lot of space for the kids to roam around (since it wasn’t super busy) which was nice for the kids. We wondered through the streets (not really going into any stores – the thought of navigating a double stroller while keeping an eye on both kids to make sure they didn’t break anything was more than I could handle), checked out a fountain (the kids were obsessed with water on this vacation), made our way thru LEGO land, across Pleasure Island, and passed the carousel. The kids walked the majority of the way which made me second guess myself by brining the stroller. Oh well, better to be prepared right? The kids had a great time being “independent” and discovering all that DT Disney had to offer. But their “discovering” required me to have patience. They had little legs and big eyes. They wanted to see and touch everything. So, I relaxed (can you believe it?) and we went at their pace.
By this time, it was almost lunch time so we found a great little sandwich shop and sat down to eat in a cute little corner booth which was perfect for containing the kids without them bothering anyone else in the restaurant. Before we even got seated, sure enough, our phones were vibrating with a new text message saying that our rooms were ready and we could check-in anytime. Awesome! After lunch, we made one quick stop to ride the carousel, and then headed back to enjoy the hotel pool. And what a pool it was.
We stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort hotel, which I would highly recommend. Our rooms were decorated like pirate ships. Each bed was an individual ship with a net, ship wheel, and bow. The refrigerator was disguised as a wooden barrel, and the bathroom tub had an etched design of a pirate ship on the back wall.
Each area of the resort (there were 6 or 7) had a pool and hot tub. But there was a main pool that had water slides, and a pirate ship play area for kids complete with a dumping bucket of water, mini water slides, and walk in pool. Benn slept for almost 2 hours. Poor kid just couldn’t keep up. Avah was a bit timid at first, but quickly warmed up. When Benn woke up he much more preferred the big pool and liked “swimming” as opposed to the water park area with the ship. I think it was too loud for him. The big pool was very relaxing and we enjoyed almost 5 hours of fun in the sun at that pool.

We wrapped up the evening with a nice dinner at TGIFriday's and my mom was nice enough (not to mention exhausted) to stay at the hotel room and watch the kids while I went to the hot tub with Kris and Anass. But before we left for the pool, we had a special visit from the Allen's. The kids were so excited to see each other. They ran around, jumped on the beds, and just enjoyed each other for a short time before bedtime. Get this, we tried to order drinks and were denied bc we didn't have our ID's. Such a drag at the time, but I'm sure when we look back on it in 10 years, we'll laugh and wish someone would deny us alcohol when we don't have proof of ID.
The next day was Disney World day. The kids woke up early, we got ready, had breakfast at the hotel, and headed to Magic Kindom. We hopped on the Tram and were on our way to meeting Snow White. The first thing Avah HAD to do was meet Snow White (she's been talking about meeting her and giving her a high five for weeks). So, we made our way to the back of the MK, got in line and began our 90 minute wait. I honestly didn't think Avah would make it 90 min without whining, having to go to the bathroom or just plain being bored. BUT she did it, we made it to the end of the line (so proud of her for being so patient) and walked into the room with the princesses ready to give them a high five and we see.......Cinderella, Aurora, and.....Bell. WTH?!? No Snow White?!!! You should've seen the look on her face. OMG the disappointment on her face broke my heart in pieces. But Avah was such a trooper. She posed with each princess that was there. I couldn't be prouder of her. Anxious to get out of there and see the rest of what MK had to offer, we dashed out and met up with the Allen's. We rode Winnie the Pooh, It's a Small World, the carousel, and the Tea Cups (Avah's favorite). After lunch it was hot so we stopped for some ice cream. Boy what a mess that was, but it cooled us down enough to watch the parade. The parade was the highlight of the day. We saw Mickey, Minnie, and ALL of the princesses. While Avah still didn't get to give SW a high five, SW clearly blew Avah a kiss. She felt so special, and I was so happy for her. Benn enjoyed the sights as well and was even brave enough to give some of the characters high fives in the parade. Such a great day.
We ended the day at Epcot where we went to the Coke store to sample Cokes from around the world and played in the water fountains. By this time the kids were pooped and ready to go (not to mention the adults were ready for naps) so we we headed back, got back on the Tram, got in the car and headed back to Kris' house. One LONG, AMAZING day.
