A Day of Firsts

Today was Avah's first day of kindergarten.  I knew today would come, and thought it would be a sad day.  But the reality is, that its down right impossible to be sad when your baby is so happy.  To say Avah's been looking forward to school is an understatement.  She barely slept last night because she was riddled with excitement, she woke up early then proceeded to ask every 10 minutes if it was time to go to school yet.

So, like any paparazzi parent, we stalled by taking pictures.  :)

Benn wanted in on the fun too and was just as excited to show his enthusiasm for Avah's big day.

Finally arrived at school!

Walking to her classroom all by herself.

Sitting at her desk with Seth, Tavery, and Luke.

Waving bye and ready to take on her very first day of Kindergarten.

I picked Avah up after school and could not wait for her to spill the beans about her day.  Her favorite things, her new friends, recess, Mrs. Weller, reading, etc.  I think she had more fun than she knew how to express.  She used hand gestures, body language, and talked non stop about how fun filled her day was.  The highlights included a story about a raccoon that ate their snack, making a new friend Kenedee, playing with Noah and staying on the GREEN light (yellow light is a warning and red light gets a call home to a parent for being naughty).  She did say that she wanted to swing at recess but the bigger kids were hogging the swings and she was bummed because she was looking for her buddy Nick all day and didn't see him at lunch or recess.  I think she knew Nick would kick the kids off of a swing for her if she wanted.  :)

A very successful first day.  Avah's only request for tomorrow..."Mom, can you not pick me up so I can ride the bus like the cool kids?"

Here are some of Avah's Favorite things as she starts Kindergarten:
