Made My Day

On the radio, as I was driving into work today, the host was asking callers what was making them smile today.  As people called in, they shared that their happy grins were the result of everything from adopting a new baby, to going on vacation, to having a dinner date planned. So, it got me thinking...what was making me smile today?  I began to think how lucky I am to have my family, my health, etc and so on.  Just thinking about how fortunate I am gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside but I began to ponder what was in store for me today.

My day had started out much like any other, pretty usual and nothing extraordinary.  We got up, got dressed and I dropped the kids off to daycare.  Occasionally when I need a pick-me-up or its payday, or sometimes without reason, I'll treat myself to a Starbucks.  This was one of those days.  :)

As I pulled in to get a tasty warm beverage, the drive thru line was unusually long so I took the opportunity to relax and scroll thru some FB updates as I waited for my turn to give my order.  As I approached the speaker I was greeted with, "Welcome to Starbucks may I take your order?"  And was quickly followed by, "Would you like a venti nonfat chai?"

What?!? How did he know my order? 

I paused for a second from sheer surprise then began laughing out loud.  Clearly I frequent this establishment's drive thru more often than I care to admit, if the Baristas know my drink.  :)

As I pulled up to pay and retrieve my chai, we had a good laugh, I told the Barista to keep my change and I went on my way.  This simple and surprising greeting that I was welcomed with when I pulled into the Starbucks drive thru made my day!
