Peace and Quiet...

I totally just typed a ridiculously long post and it just disappeared. Ughhh! So, here is my second (probably a lot more condensed) go at it.

Today didn't go exactly as planned. Avah had been looking forward to spending the night with my mom for a few days and had her bag packed and ready to go this a.m. when we get a phone call at 6:30am from my mom saying she thinks she has pink eye. YIKES! I didn't have the heart to tell her she might not get to go because it was the first thing she asked about when she woke up and was really looking forward to it, so I packed up the kids, and all their stuff to go to g-ma's and off we went to Pat's house (praying the whole way that my mom had just had a scratch or something in her eye).

Work was good. It was productive, we got to wear jeans, and for the most part, it was fun. Yup, I said it...fun (it helps when you work with one of your best friends). I talked to my mom who had gone to the doc's office. They confirmed she does have pink eye in BOTH eyes, so she was a no go on the slumber party plan. Knowing Avah really wanted to hangout with g-ma, we called Russ' mom who was thankfully able to pick her up and spend the evening with her. Russ' game got cancelled because of the storms and torrential down pours, so he offered to pick Bennett up from daycare which left me a good hour and a half of "me time" before heading to my brother and SIL. I had great plans to hit up Kohl's, TJ Maxx (I only go there without kids - too stressful otherwise), and Target. But, time flew by and I spent all my time at Kohl's. Not my most productive afternoon, but it was relaxing, and therapeutic. I took my time, tried clothes on, browsed the shoes and was basically in a shopping coma-like state for a good hour. I met Russ at my brother's with Benn, then Russ went to practice and we (as in Bennett and I) enjoyed hanging out with the Halmekangas' for the evening. We ate a lot, drank some, and enjoyed watching Benn play and interact without a loud, audience commanding, sometimes bossy sister running around. He was hysterical. Bennett really gave his Uncle Matt a run at basketball, and was a comedian all night. He was cuddly, and charming. A chatterbox, and a sneak (he kept stealing m&m's out of the dispenser). Agh...I really love these rare occasions that I get to see Bennett alone (well, not alone, but as an only child). I really appreciate and notice all his quirks. He really is growing too fast!

Now, we are home. Bennett is sleeping, Russ is doing homework, and I'm unwinding from the day enjoying some peace and quiet.
